Meet Our Board

PRESIDENT

ʻAULIʻI L. HEINE HIRAHARA

‘Auli’i Heine Hirahara is the kumu hula for Hālau Na Pua 'Āhihi Lehua Mai Pihanakalani. 'Auli'i is also a teacher at Kamehameha Schools. She currently lives in Kalāwahine Hawaiian Homestead with her husband Dean Hirahara and three children. ‘Auli’i earned her bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, her master’s degree in Secondary Teacher Education, and her doctorate degree in Education. She loves to spend time with family, surf, run, and care for the land.

VICE PRESIDENT

LA'AKEA LEHUA GUM

La'akea hails from Nuʻuanu, Oʻahu and is a haumana of Hālau Na Pua ʻĀhihi Lehua Mai Pihanakalani. She is working towards a masters degree in tropical plant and soil sciences from the University of Hawai'i at Mānoa while also working at her family plant nursery, Native Farms, in Waimānalo. Laʻakea is also the head coach of the Varsity II girl's water polo team at Kamehameha High School Kapālama and an assistant coach for Oʻahu Water Polo club and Honolulu Water Polo club. In her free time, she enjoys surfing, watching shows and playing with her many pets. 

TREASURER

KELE SUNIA

Kele Sunia is a caregiver for her Puna, Elsie Hummel. Kele lives with Puna, her mom, husband and three keiki, and they live in Manoa Valley. Kele works for North Shore EcoTours, which is a kanaka owned company dedicated to ho’omana lahui by contributing to the local economy and strengthening cultural identity. Kele participates in community service, dedicated to her ‘ohana and strives to carry on her kuleana from her kupuna.

SECRETARY

DEAN KEALI'I HIRAHARA

Dean lives in Kalawahine Homestead. He is married to Auliʻi Heine Hirahara and has three beautiful children. He enjoys being active and doing things outdoors such as working in a loʻi, surfing, running, lifting weights, playing volleyball, and coaching volleyball. He aspires to live pono and malama ʻaina daily. He graduated from the University of Hawaii at Mānoa with a BS in Exercise Science.
